Biden Campaign Says Election is About ‘Freedom and Democracy’

Share

President Donald Trump’s (R) legal concerns worry both Republicans and Democrats as election season unfolds. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) warned that the election could focus on President Trump’s legal woes because it would be a distraction from important concerns. President Joe Biden’s (D) campaign believes this could help the incumbent, warning that the election is about “freedom and democracy.”

During an interview with “Face the Nation” over the weekend, Governor DeSantis discussed the Republican primary race, which President Trump is currently winning in support.

“If [the election is] about Donald Trump, or his legal issues, or criminal trials… I think it’s going to be a really nasty election,” Governor DeSantis expressed. “I don’t think that puts Republicans in a good position to win,” he added.

Quentin Fulks, the Principal Deputy Campaign Manager for the Biden campaign also commented on the issue, responding as well to concerns that President Biden has gotten a “late-start” in the 2024 election.

During an interview with Meet the Press, Fulks quieted any concerns that President Biden has not dedicated time to his reelection efforts.

“We have to build the campaign that we need to build in order to be competitive heading into 2024, and that’s where our mindset has been,” Fulks clarified, adding that “President Biden’s mindset for the past several months has been continuing to do work for the American people.”

He goes on to cite that President Biden’s efforts have led to a rise in job-creation and a lower unemployment.

In reference to the upcoming election, Fulks argues that “this is a choice in an election about freedom and democracy… President Biden focused on the future of America, and President Trump focused on only himself.”

National polls indicate that President Trump is also outperforming President Biden, which has raised concerns among President Biden’s strongest supporters.
