Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley's presidential campaign is soaring across the political landscape and appears to be the clear second choice for voters in the 2024 Republican presidential primary race.

In the most recent CBS News public opinion polls conducted December 8-15 in New Hampshire, Ambassador Haley’s approval rating among likely Republican voters in the Granite State has cut into former President Donald Trump’s huge lead, cutting it down to 14 percentage points.

According to the poll, President Trump garnered 44% support from those surveyed, and Haley, who has been endorsed by Gov. Chris Sununu, received a whopping 29% support.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's favorability with voters dropped to 11% support.

This is big news for Haley, who is positioned to pick up more of the New Hampshire Republicans that have been leaning towards supporting former Gov. Chris Christie and Gov. DeSantis. Her performances in all four of the RNC-sanctioned debates proved to be enough for political heavyweights like Gov. Sununu and Americans For Prosperity Action to back Haley's presidential bid.

DeSantis and Haley Square off for Second Place

Haley will probably still lose Iowa to President Trump, who has 58% support, but she could gain on DeSantis who is currently outpacing her by only 2-9 % in the latest polls conducted by CBS News and Iowa St/Civiqs.

DeSantis received a little bump after receiving Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds’s endorsement, but Trump has been able to blunt that anticipated bump in the polls.

The bump never really arrived for DeSantis.

In South Carolina, Haley is still second to Trump, but ahead of DeSantis.

Nationally, it's still all about Trump, as the latest Fox News and Harvard-Harris polls show the former president crushing both DeSantis and Haley, who are battling for second place.

DeSantis and Haley are virtually tied for second place. The narrative that this presidential primary race was solely between Trump and DeSantis has been flushed down the proverbial political toilet bowl.
