Is the world beginning to accept that COVID-19 most likely came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology? Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) discussed a recent statement made by former Biden health advisor Dr. Raj Panjabi and what sort of role Dr. Anthony Fauci could have had in covering it up in a recent appearance on Fox News's On Air, saying the United States "could have been involved in the research that led to COVID-19."
The Daily Mail reported Dr. Panjabi saying it was "plausible" COVID-19 came from the Wuhan lab during a recent health conference in New York. "It is plausible that Covid originated in a lab accident in Wuhan...we have got to do more to keep labs safe," he said.
Rep. Gimenez agreed, adding, "It's not like you have a gain of function lab around every corner. There are just a few of them in the world."
Additionally, Rep. Gimenez called the lengths the Chinese government went to suppress evidence of the Wuhan lab leak theory "interesting," to the point that Senator Marco Rubio's (R-FL) May report supporting the lab leak theory could only rely on the circumstantial.
As a result, Gimenez said a goal of the House Select Committee on China was "about how we should be treating our relationship with China on any of this type of research [and] our relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO) that is apparently in bed with China trying to cover up what is really obvious," echoing Sen. Rubio in a recent call for travel restrictions as a new illness sweeps across the country, where he accused the WHO of having "slavish deference to the [Chinese Communist Party].
Host Lawrence Jones asked what potential role Dr. Anthony Fauci could have had in hiding the truth about COVID-19's origin, to which Gimenez said, "We need to get to the bottom of exactly what that relationship was and why Fauci was so defensive."
Gimenez pointed at additional evidence such as Fauci "actively tried to suppress differing points of view saying 'yeah, it was probable that the virus was manufactured in the lab," and a series of emails between Fauci and Dr. David Morens seemingly confirming this effort to suppress the lab leak theory.
"What was his hand in it?" Gimenez speculated, "Why and how much American money actually went to that lab, and how much was America involved in what happened? I am not saying that America released it or leaked it out of there, but America may have been involved in the research that led to COVID-19," the Florida Congressman concluded.
