Luna, Cammack Denounce Pro-Palestine Protesters Storming DNC HQ

Share

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters in Washington was assaulted Wednesday night by violent pro-Palestine protesters demanding a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) were both in the area when the violence broke out. Later, they described what they saw in recent appearances on Fox's Ingraham Angle and Fox Business's Evening Edit, respectively.

Rep. Luna said she was returning from an event celebrating the Hindu holiday of Diwali when Capitol Police officers told her and her staff to return to the Capitol building.

"So what we ultimately did, I was going to pick up my stuff, and no sooner did we actually get to my office that it went basically on lockdown," Rep. Luna recounted, adding that the protest "was obviously not peaceful" and noting the irony in the protesters' demands for peace not aligning with their actions.

"It is crazy that in today's day and age, this is supposed to be acceptable," Luna continued.

More egregiously, she said the New York City branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) defended the protesters' actions and accused the police of attacking first on X (formerly Twitter).

"They actually accepted responsibility for this and basically stated that it was law enforcement that was attacking them, which you can see from the footage is an absolute lie," Luna told Ingraham, "What we have in this country right now is a massive problem as you mentioned earlier with these Marxist organizations using this movement in order to bully elected officials into doing what they want and using violence to do so. It is what the color revolutions are, and it is something that we as lawmakers have to push back on."

Rep. Cammack's account was briefer, but she said the experience was "unnerving."

"I was coming back from an event with my chief of staff, and we were trying to access the Capitol complex and were, actually, denied the western and southern portions. You could hear the clashes between Capitol Police and the protesters," Rep. Cammack recounted.

Additionally, she mentions how the protesters were "screaming in at police officers, pepper spraying them, using bicycle racks as weapons, getting in their face, and so it was pretty unnerving not being able to gain access to the secure facility because you are like a sitting duck out there."
