With the United States House of Representatives in unprecedented territory, many Americans will have to get used to sitting members of Congress pledging their support for a new Speaker while in session.

With that being said, where do Republican House members from the state of Florida stand? Who have they supported? Have they supported anyone at all?

According to the Washington Examiner’s race endorsement live tracker, only seven House GOP Representatives have pledged their support to a candidate.

Of those seven, only two have endorsed Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA).

Representative Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) was short and to the point in his statement of endorsement for Rep. Scalise.

“No one is better prepared to lead the House from the minute they are elected than Steve Scalise,” stated Rep. Diaz-Balart.

Representative Vern Buchanan (R-FL) publicly endorsed Rep. Scalise as well.

In August, Rep. Buchanan called Scalise “an incredible leader and an inspiration to all of us” after he was diagnosed with blood cancer.

In Representative Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) corner are five Florida Republicans, among others.

This includes Representatives such as Byron Donalds, Greg Steube, Anna Paulina Luna, Cory Mills, and Mike Waltz.

If you want to get technical, former President Donald Trump (R) is both a Floridian and a Republican. He endorsed Rep. Jordan as well.

Rep. Steube initially endorsed President Trump but backtracked once the former President endorsed Rep. Jordan.

“I encouraged Donald Trump to run for Speaker because he could unite the Republican conference in historic ways. But I have full confidence in President Trump’s pick for our Speaker: Jim Jordan. We must unite around Chairman Jordan who has led the charge in [the Weaponization] and House Judiciary Committee’s critical work to protect our freedoms. Jim is a great patriot who can get the job done! He holds the respect of so many in our conference and I trust him to lead!” said Rep. Steube.

Rep. Donalds concurred with conservative political commentator Mark Levin in his support for Jim Jordan.

“I agree! Jim Jordan for Speaker,” stated Donalds.

Rep. Mills stated that he was honored to give his “complete and total endorsement of Jim Jordan.”

“I’m honored to give my complete and total endorsement of Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House. Jim is a constitutionally principled and fiscally responsible leader. Jim has been a longtime friend for many years. He’s the right person to lead this 118th Congress. I’m blessed to serve with him,” said Rep. Mills.

Rep. Donalds received an endorsement from Rep. Andy Harris, but it has since been revoked and directed to Jim Jordan.
