Republican Voter Registration Surges in Florida

Share

Ahead of the 2022 midterm election, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) had touted Republican voter registration surging. With the upcoming presidential election, Florida GOP Chairman Christian Ziegler has announced that Republican voter registration continues to rise in Florida.

In a message to supporters, Florida GOP informed that 37,588 new Republicans were added in September alone, which brings the Republican lead over Democrats to 626,518 as of September 30th.

In a statement, Ziegler commented that “it’s evident that the Democrat Party is on the path to extinction in our state, and their recent initiatives, such as the ‘Take Back Florida’ campaign, seem more like a $1 million can of snake oil sold to their donors, rather than genuine outreach.”

Citing that Floridians want to distance themselves from “the radical Democrat Party,” Ziegler explains that “it turns out that allowing the invasion of our country from the south while indoctrinating, sexualizing & mutilating children as prominent members of their party carry Hamas’ water just isn’t popular in our state, and the monumental swing of 956,946 voter registrations toward the GOP since 2016 proves that.”

Despite the boost in voter registration, Ziegler expressed that “there’s no room for complacency, and The Republican Party cannot relax until every Democrat is out of office and no Democrat considers running for office in Florida.”

After Governor DeSantis won his reelection bid in 2022, Democrat Party Chair Nikki Fried (D) vowed to reinvigorate the Democrat Party. Since January 2016, 25 counties have flipped from Democrat to Republican; and since January 2018, 15 counties have flipped from Democrat to Republican.

In August, Fried discussed the 'Take Back Florida' tour, explaining that she would be traveling to 17 counties to go "to every single part of our state." "Not just blue territories, but red and all areas because in order for us to take back the state, not only do we need to invigorate the base of our party, we need to get people everywhere," she said.
