DeSantis Agrees with Rubio, Calls for Revoked Visas of those who Support Hamas

Share

Governor and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis (R-FL) went on The Megyn Kelly Show to discuss the recent developments concerning the Israel-Hamas war and how exactly America should respond both abroad and at home.

During the interview, Kelly questioned Gov. DeSantis about university students coming to the defense of Palestine (which is backed by Hamas), and whether it should be considered a form of “cancel culture” to discipline students and those who support the group.

“Megyn, it’s not cancel culture to say that somebody’s celebrating the beheading of infants, the execution of the elderly, some of the most barbaric actions that we’ve seen in our lifetime. If you look at what the Hamas terrorists did – as bad as Al Qaeda and ISIS in some of their worst moments – I think this had reached even a new low from there. So, the idea that you would go out and celebrate that as a good thing, that is absolutely the type of person that you should not want to hire,” said Gov. DeSantis. He would also raise the question, “What the hell is going on in American universities nowadays?”

Later in the discussion, Gov. DeSantis agreed with Senator Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) call for the visas of those who support terrorist groups like Hamas to be revoked.

“Any of those students who are here on visas, those visas should be canceled, and they should be repatriated back to their home country. That’s a no-brainer. Why would we want to welcome people into this country who are totally hostile to basic American decency and values?” said DeSantis.

In one of the final parts of the clip, Kelly mentioned that it could be controversial to deny visas based on ideological preferences. DeSantis responded, “Of course it’s controversial.”

“Well, of course, it’s controversial. But here’s the thing Megyn: it used to be – if you’d shown up at Ellis Island in 1900 and you were saying that you supported Islamic Jihad … You would have been turned away from Ellis Island. If you came and you rejected the foundational principles of America, you would have been rejected from coming into this country, that would’ve been non-negotiable,” said DeSantis.

As mentioned earlier, Sen. Rubio called for the cancellation of visas for those who publicly declare their support of the terrorist group as well.

The Florida senator wrote a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken urging him to enforce the laws on the books and revoke visas of those that support designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO).

“America is the most welcoming country in the world. During Fiscal Year 2022 alone, we issued more than six million nonimmigrant visas. However, the privilege of entering and staying in our great country is not afforded to those who wish to do us harm or advocate on behalf of Hamas, penned Rubio.

This is a developing story.
