Rick Scott
Were the origins of COVID-19 covered up by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)? Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) joined with Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Ron Johnson (R-WI) in a letter to the CIA Director demanding the truth.
Science reported an anonymous whistleblower stated in a Congressional hearing that six analysts were bribed to remain silent about COVID's origins as a lab leak. The leader of the analyst team remained the only one supportive of the zoonotic transmission theory (meaning it came from a bat in this case). As a result, the whistleblower said the other six were given "significant monetary incentive" to go along with the zoonotic theory.
Further suspicion comes from conflicting conclusions reached by different intelligence agencies on where COVID came from, and whatever they have declassified has remained minimal.
Sen. Scott's letter called the allegations made by the whistleblower "deeply concerning" and thus demanded the CIA hand over all communication between the analysis team, other CIA agents, and employees of other Federal agencies. Moreover, any documents related to payment, including monetary incentives or performance-based bonuses, must be given by September 25th.
On X (formerly Twitter), Sen. Scott said, "If the @CIA had a role in covering up the true origins of COVID-19 from the American people, we deserve to know the when, why & how that went into this absurd cover-up. @SenRandPaul, @LindseyGrahamSC, @SenRonJohnson & I are demanding answers."
In May, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released an exhaustive 328-page report with circumstantial evidence suggesting COVID came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China. The report detailed how the Chinese insisted COVID came from the Wuhan wet market even though their own scientists concluded this was unlikely as the government quietly tightened their safety and security measures.
Later in July, not only was funding for the Wuhan Institute of Virology traced back to Dr. Anthony Fauci, but Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) accused "science gangs" of continually pressing the zoonotic theory even as "all the signs point to the Wuhan lab."
"It’s very clear that all the signs point to the Wuhan lab, and yet these “science” gangs are again siding with China to defend the natural origin story with no sufficient evidence," said Rep. Mast.
