Cammack Says Biden Admin 'Asking' for Major Border Disaster

Share

Is the migrant crisis at the southern border reaching a tipping point? Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) suggested the Biden Administration is "asking for a major disaster to happen" because of current border policies in a recent appearance on Fox News's Evening Edit, adding that Democrats in blue states are beginning to feel the pressure.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre claimed President Biden has "done more to secure the border" than "anybody else," which Rep. Cammack immediately called "a lie, straight out," having visited the border nine times.

"If he were doing everything that he could to secure that border, we would not have a policy of paroling into this country, upwards of seven million people, at this point. We would not have a policy allowing people to enter this country with zero background checks. He would have reimplemented Title 42 instead of getting rid of it, kept the Remain in Mexico policy, and kept all of the Trump-era policies to secure this border. Instead, he did away with every single one of them because he does not want a secure border; he wants an open border. That is why he is the trafficker in chief," said Rep. Cammack, echoing similar statements by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and Representative Cory Mills (R-FL).

The Edit pointed out the recent spate of Democratic Governors such as Kathy Hochul (New York) and Phil Murphy (New Jersey) requesting assistance from, or fighting with, the Biden Administration in containing migrants released into their states.

While not mentioned by the Edit, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey (D) has also gone so far as to activate the National Guard in dealing with the crisis, making this an increasingly bipartisan concern. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) also said immigration could potentially be Biden's "weakest issue."

Cammack agreed with Rep. Cortez, though she compared getting Democrats in Congress behind border security to "pulling teeth" despite the issue being "an American issue," as Rep. Mills once put it.

"Without a secure border, we are not a sovereign nation. And there are so many people coming across from over 151 different nations that have to know who is coming. We have to know their intentions. And when you have fentanyl, the number one killer of people between the ages of 18 and 45 that is being smuggled across the southwest border, every community in America is now a border town as a result of these policies. And so I have said repeatedly that you can play stupid games; you win stupid prizes. They are asking for a major disaster to happen as a result of the open border policies," Cammack concluded.
