Donalds Calls Case for Impeaching Biden 'Open and Shut'

Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) recently appeared on Newsmax's John Bachman Now, where he discussed the process of an impeachment inquiry for President Joe Biden as evidence of an alleged influence-peddling scheme run with his son Hunter becomes more apparent, calling the case "open and shut" while chastising former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) "gunshot" impeachment votes against former President Donald Trump.

Rep. Donalds began by explaining he had "no faith" in a special counsel through the Department of Justice under Attorney General Merrick Garland; rather than an inquiry through the House of Representatives under Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA); to prosecute the Bidens.

His evidence lies in the silence of Special Counsel Robert Hur, whom Garland appointed in January to oversee the case of Biden supposedly mishandling classified documents, while Special Counsel Jack Smith, whom Rep. Donalds had previously called "somewhat of a lunatic;" "is running amok tearing through our legal system just to find some way to get Donald Trump."

Moreover, Donalds said if Garland truly intended to prosecute the Bidens, "this will be an "open and shut case within six to seven months."

"I fully believe that we are going to start an impeachment inquiry in the House of Representatives. And we are going to present this case, present this information to the members of the House, and I think votes will probably take place at some point in the future," Donalds continued.

The discussion turned to the process of an impeachment inquiry, which will be held through the Judiciary Committee and supported by the Oversight Committee. The key takeaway, however, would be that "when we took over the majority, the thing we did not want to do was play games with the Constitution," said Donalds.

"When we took over the majority, the thing we did not want to do was play games with the Constitution. And with impeachment, the way Nancy Pelosi did, what [she] did were these gunshot impeachment votes, with no evidence whatsoever and hardly any deliberation. We do believe that is wrong, and we believe that is not the way the House should conduct itself," the Florida Congressman added, echoing his colleague Representative Scott Franklin (R-FL), who called Pelosi "a dictator" while serving as Speaker of the House.
