Washington, D.C- Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott jointly submitted a resolution regarding President Joe Biden’s Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station policy.
Namely, Senator Rubio and Scott’s resolution would potentially nullify President Biden’s decision to waive “Buy America Requirements” for new EV charging stations.
“Buy America Requirements” are enforced by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and require taxpayer-funded EV charging station construction projects primarily use materials made in America.
On November 15, 2021, Biden signed into law the Bipartisan Infrastructure law, providing $5 billion for the new National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. With “Buy America” requirements waived, millions of taxpayer dollars could now be paid to companies from competing and hostile nations to complete such infrastructure EV projects.
Republicans criticized Biden’s initiative to waive made-in-america requirements as financing our enemies and fettering the US’s infrastructural development to the same. “It is imperative that we block the Biden Administration’s continuous handouts to the CCP,” exclaimed Rubio.

Scott likewise expressed concern about enabling public funds diversion into countries unfriendly to ours. “We have to stop propping up manufacturing abroad, especially using tax dollars. It’s that simple,” said Scott.
Biden policies, similar to today’s resolution, facilitating increased trade with China, have played into the hands of Republicans seeking to unveil what they claim is Biden’s China-fueled corruption. Recent investigations and publications by House Committees and independent senators have raised further questions as to how far and legal Biden negotiations with foreign powers have gone.
