Rep. Mainor Joins Republicans, Denounces Democrats

This week, Democrats lost a congressional member as Georgia Rep. Mesha Mainor (R) has announced that she is joining the Republican Party. Since announcing her departure, conservative figures have celebrated Rep. Mainor's decision, welcoming her to the Republican Party.

In a video posted on social media, Rep. Mainor recounted that she has served two terms as a Democrat, citing that “we’ve had some wins, but there is a better path, and we can do so much more.” In a move that has stunned Democrats, Rep. Mainor announced that she was leaving the Democratic Party and instead registering as a Republican.

The move comes after Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema (I) announced that she was also leaving the Democratic party and instead registering as an Independent, leaving her and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I) as the only Independent lawmakers in the Senate.

Rep Mainor took to social media to further explain her motive in leaving the Democratic party, sharing that she “didn’t leave the Democrat Party.”

“The Democrat Party Left ME when it embraced left- wing radicalism, lawlessness, and put the interests of illegal aliens over the interests of Americans,” she said.

Mainor also shared that she feels she has “nothing to apologize for.”

Mainor provided a statement to Fox News Digital wherein she further explains her decision to leave the Democratic party, which she has represented since being elected to the Georgia House in January of 2021.

“When I decided to stand up on behalf of disadvantaged children in support of school choice, my Democrat colleagues didn’t stand by me,” Mainor commented, saying that her colleagues “crucified” her.

“When I decided to stand up in support of safe communities and refused to support efforts to defund the police, they didn’t back me. They abandoned me,” she lamented.

Calling her decision to leave the party “a moral one” as opposed to a “political decision,” Mainor now looks to serve Georgia’s 56th district as a Republican.
