Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) accused the Democratic Party of playing politics while attempting to blame the botched Afghanistan withdrawal on former President Donald Trump (R).
The Florida Congressman called out the Democrats for not wanting to “rehash” the Afghanistan withdrawal.
“I want to go back to a couple of things that’s been said throughout this by my colleagues on the left: You know, you have things where they say, well, there’s no point in rehashing this. You know, in the military, we call something that’s being rehashed an AAR, an After Action Review and the whole point of conducting those After Action Reviews is to one: ensure that these types of incidents don’t occur again, but also to ensure that accountability is held, and we can actually go forward and make sure the right people are there.
Rep. Mills’ Democratic counterparts are attempting to use the rhetoric to acquit President Joe Biden (D) due to the notion that it was the training of the military under President Trump.
“[In the military when] those operations go wrong, we don’t look at the previous command and go ‘Well, the previous command had them for the last two years, and it’s their training that happened in the past – that the reason for these actual incidents and mistakes.’ But that’s what they want to do to President Trump.”
Moreover, If President Trump wasn’t ahead in the polls, Rep. Mills believes the left side of the aisle wouldn’t be using this line of attack.
Mills went on to mention, “I wonder if that has to do with the upcoming elections and the fact that he’s ahead in the polls and we’re playing politics, which is why we’re sitting here right now over strategy and over actually holding them (Biden administration) accountable for the actions that they’re responsible for.”
Recently, Rep. Mills was outraged when meeting with one of the fallen soldier's families that the Pentagon made them pay over $60,000 to have her remains transported back to the United States.
Sergeant Nicole L. Gee, a member of the United States Marine Corps, died in the tragic Afghanistan withdrawal and was able to have her remains transferred to Arlington National Cemetery with the help of a non-profit fundraiser. Rep. Mills' office did some digging and reported that the discrepancy was made possible in last year's National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allows the Department of Defense to decline to pay for the transportation of deceased military men and women.
"Typically, our fallen heroes are flown back home for a solemn service and then laid to a final rest at Arlington Cemetery with the utmost respect and honor," Mills said. "It is an egregious injustice that grieving families were burdened to shoulder the financial strain of honoring their loved ones. This is an unacceptable situation that demands immediate rectification."
Mills continues to be a loud adversary of the Biden Administration.
