House Republicans have their knives out for Biden Administration officials. Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) set his sights on Representative Bennie Thompson (D-MS), introducing a resolution to censure the Mississippi Congressman for not turning over records to the House Clerk during his time as Chair of the January 6th Committee.
The Post Millennial described how rather than turn Committee records over to the House Clerk, Rep. Thompson gave them to the Department of Homeland Security, who would then turn them over to the Archives.
The reason was to supposedly protect the identities of Secret Service members who testified before the Committee.
Moreover, when Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) wrote to the Archives in May demanding the documents turned over to the House, they were seemingly incomplete.
As such, "It remains unclear which records were kept or destroyed by the committee."
In his press release, Rep. Gaetz called Thompson's actions "a flagrant violation of House rules" and demanded his censure and removal from the Homeland Security Committee.
"Lawmakers investigating the weaponization of the federal government are unable to determine which records of the January 6th Select Committee were kept or destroyed before Republicans took control of the House. Former Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, in a flagrant violation of House rules, improperly sent the records to the Biden White House and outside the rightful possession of Congress. At a minimum, Rep. Thompson should be censured by the House for this violation and removed from the Committee on Homeland Security," said Gaetz.
Similarly, Gaetz demanded prosecutor Mike Pomerantz face contempt of Congress charges for "incorrectly asserting his Fifth Amendment right" in a May Weaponization of the Federal Government Subcommittee hearing.
Furthermore, House Republicans are seeking to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress after investigations found an FBI informant presented information suggesting President Biden was involved in his son Hunter's foreign business deals. However, the FBI expressed fear the informant could die if identified.
