Brevard Family Partnership and Aetna Fight Human Trafficking in Florida

Share

This week, Brevard Family Partnership announced they would be working with Aetna, a CVS Health company, to support prevention, education, and intervention against human trafficking in Northeast Florida.

Brevard Family Partnership’s involvement in their community to combat human trafficking places emphasis on educating individuals who may be at risk, and also provide support services for survivors of the rampant practice.

Brevard Family Partnership CEO Phil Scarpelli said, “At Brevard Family Partnership, our focus is to protect children from the dangers of human trafficking and be able to educate Floridians on what signs to look for in a possible victim of human trafficking. As more and more people move to Florida, we see the risks associated with human trafficking increasing with any growth in high tourist towns and beach areas. Because of great partnerships with companies like Aetna, we are able to equip more people with the tools they need to spot trafficking victims and save more children from those who prey on them.”

Aetna Better Health of Florida CEO Jennifer Sweet said, “Our partnership with Brevard Family Partnership is important for Northeast Florida and our Aetna Better Health of Florida members. Children are an under-resourced population and we recognize the need for their protection and intervention when they are in dangerous situations. Partners such as Brevard Family Partnership see the need for a strong community and step up to fill gaps in ways that can put Florida’s children on a new trajectory.”

CEO Sweet has worked on many operations helping those who are disadvantaged across the state of Florida.  In an initiative to promote healthier habits, Sweet  focused on providing healthy and nutritious food to best cater to those who suffer from conditions like diabetes, or from high blood sugar (A1C).
