Bovo Calls George Soros Force Trying to 'Destroy' U.S.

Billionaire George Soros made headlines this week, and it didn’t entail criticism from Republicans. Well, only a little from South Florida. The Soros patriarch announced this week that he would be handing his $25 billion empire to his son Alexander Soros. Hialeah Mayor Steve Bovo responded to the news, saying that George Soros is a force trying “to destroy this country.”

Republicans have long criticized Soros, accusing him of weaponizing the law, and most recently District Attorneys that have received money from Soros have been chided. This includes Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg, who’s led charges against President Donald Trump (R).

37-year-old Alexander Soros is now at the head of George Soros’ philanthropic enterprise, Open Society Foundations (OSF), and the young Soros says that he’s “more political” than his father. That being said, under his leadership, the enterprise will take part in efforts to boost support for voting and abortion rights.

Responding to a Wall Street Journal Instagram post, Mayor Bovo expressed his discontent with the news, saying that the United States is “on the precipice of caos [sic]” with the young Soros at the helm.

Calling Soros a force that is working tirelessly “to destroy this country,” Bovo added that “Trump got in their way, DeSantis got in their way and conservatives of all colors and background [sic] better pay attention.”

He argued that the left thrives “off of class warfare” and that they “take what they haven’t earned.” Citing “Cuba, China, Venezuela, Nicaragua” as places where repression is taking place, Bovo suggested that those governments require “push back and rebellion against what they want to impose on us.”

The Hialeah Mayor provided the hashtag #areyoupayingattention.

In his interview with the WSJ, Alex mentioned that he recently met with officials from the Biden administration, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D), and other world leaders including Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to discuss issues that are related to OSF.
