Trump Touts Fundraising Lead

Former President Donald Trump (R) has refocused his attention on President Joe Biden (D). Now that Biden has announced his reelection campaign, President Trump has signaled that there’s no fundraising interest in another Biden run.

Over the weekend, the President Trump's Save America Joint Fundraising Committee released a message to supporters, taking aim at President Biden for a lack of donations.

The message argued that 24 hours after President Trump was indicted, his campaign reported that it had raised over $4 million in donations. However, “Crooked Joe Biden’s campaign was DEAD SILENT on how much it raised in the first 24 hours following his RE-ELECTION announcement.”

President Biden held a two-day event this weekend, meeting with Wall Street financiers and other backers. His advisors are seeking to expand the list despite a floundering approval rating and questions over the effectiveness of his campaign.

Polls indicate that a large portion of Americans are not thrilled at President Biden running for office again, and polls also indicate that most Democrats would also prefer another candidate. While Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (D) and Marianne Williamson (D) are challenging Biden for the nomination, the DNC has announced that primary debates will not take place.

Bruce Heyman, who’s a former US Ambassador to Canada as well as being a former Goldman Sachs banker who largely contributed to the 2020 Biden campaign, commented on the importance of fundraising. “The need for money will be profound. Not only do I believe in Joe Biden – I think we’re in a crisis moment with regard to the threat to democracy as we know it,” Heyman said.

Trump, who’s largely focused on criticizing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), has criticized Biden since he announced his intention to run again for a second term.

Biden has maintained that his administration will “finish the job” regardless of the challenger.
