Mills Tells Austin, 'We're Not Safer Now Under Biden'

During the hearing with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, where he told Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) that U.S. soldiers could be shot at while building the Gaza pier, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) took his time to point out the various foreign policy failures of the Biden Administration, saying, "we are not safer now under this administration than we were previously."

Rep. Mills began with the 159 attacks and counting on U.S. servicemembers in the Middle East since 2021, although Sec. Austin replied, "The vast majority have been ineffective."

Regardless, the Florida Congressman continued by pointing to the Abraham Accords enacted by former President Donald Trump, which normalized relations between Egypt and Israel since 1979 and between Israel and Jordan since 1994. Rep. Mills called them "historic" and asked Sec. Austin if they were "a very good step toward helping with the stabilization of the Middle East."

Austin agreed but did not refer to the Trump administration by name when asked who enacted the Accords.

Mills further pointed at the attacks of October 7th in Israel perpetrated by Hamas that left 1,200 Israelis dead and the ramped-up attacks on international shipping by the Houthis, who were removed from the list of terrorist organizations by the Biden Administration.

The Florida Congressman even referred back to the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014 under the Obama Administration when Biden was Vice President, the point of which was to say, "We are not safer now under this administration than we were previously, which is a contrary statement to what you have said as I have just outlined."

Moreover, Mills pointed out that former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates gave a blisteringly negative view of Biden's handling of foreign policy in 2014, saying, "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades."

Ouch.

"So what we established here is that we are not safer under President Biden than we were under President Trump. What we are establishing here is that the Abraham Accords were put in place under President Trump to help and that the things that are occurring in Ukraine, in the Sahel, in Israel, in Afghanistan with the botched withdrawal would not have happened under President Trump," Mills concluded.
