Haley Affirms Support for Competency Test

Share

When South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) announced her 2024 presidential run, she caused quite a stir by calling for candidates to undertake a competency test. Political pundits took this as the presidential hopeful taking a political dig at President Joe Biden (D) and President Donald Trump (R). However, Haley is once again affirming her support for a competency test and calling on a Senate member to resign.

This week, Haley took to social media to comment on the controversy surrounding California Senator Dianne Feinstein (D). In recent weeks, calls have been made for her to resign, and Haley is now joining those calls.

In an op-ed for Fox News, Haley called Senator Feinstein “a trailblazer who’s made an indelible mark in public space.” However, Haley goes on to share that “it’s been obvious for quite some time that she’s in significant mental and physical decline,” adding that Feinstein has “missed months of votes and clearly can no longer do her job.”

She then added that she agrees “with several congressional Democrats who say Feinstein should resign immediately and let someone else who is able to do the job take over.” “At 89 years old, she is a prime example of why we need mental competency tests for politicians,” Haley affirmed.

Haley goes one step further, writing that the best example for a competency test is “a former senator and the sitting president,” pointing that “millions of Americans watch President Biden and believe he exhibits cognitive decline.”

Haley isn’t the only one to share these views as several Republicans have also called into question Biden’s cognitive abilities.

“He often seems disoriented and confused. Yet the public can’t know for sure without a cognitive test, which Biden has either not taken or declines to publish as part of his medical records,” Haley expressed.

Haley’s op-ed can be read here.
