Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law today aimed at keeping Florida out of any World Health Organization "Pandemic Treaty".
"In this bill we formally reject W.H.O. or any of these international organizations," said DeSantis before signing the law at Oceans Church in Destin earlier today. "If a county or someone in Florida wants to adopt one of these policies they have to get it approved by the State of Florida."
DeSantis said one of the problems during Covid was local and state health departments relying on "flawed guidance" from organizations like the CDC.
"In the State of Florida we want to be a buffer against flawed guidance," said DeSantis.
President Biden has entered into negotiations for the United States to enter into such a treaty with the World Health Organization. The Pandemic Treaty calls for redistribution of supplies from richer countries to poorer countries. Many think it could infringe on American sovereignty and attempt to impose global governance during a pandemic like Covid-19.
"I think they are really looking to institutionalize lockdown policies, and that will not happen here," said DeSantis.
