DeSantis Announcing Presidential run on Twitter

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has confirmed that he will be launching a presidential run this week. Over the weekend, reports indicated that Gov. DeSantis would be making the announcement later this week. However, DeSantis is now reported to make the announcement at a Twitter Spaces meeting on Wednesday with Elon Musk.

On Tuesday, reports surfaced indicating that Governor DeSantis would be live streaming a Twitter Spaces talk with Elon Musk at 6:00 pm ET. During this talk, DeSantis would be announcing that he intends to run for the White House.

This comes after months of speculation that he would enter the race despite President Donald Trump (R) running for office.

Tuesday afternoon, the social media sites for DeSantis changed their cover photos to a gator lurking in still, black water. Later in the evening, First Lady Casey DeSantis' account shared an advertisement teasing DeSantis' 2024 announcement.

In the advertisement, DeSantis is shown backstage, preparing to open curtains and face a crowd of supporters. As this plays out, a voice over "they call it faith because in the face of darkness, you can see that brighter future. A faith that our best days lay ahead of us. But is it worth the fight? Do I have the courage? is it worth the sacrifice? America has been worth it every single time."

The announcement comes the same week that South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R) announced his own candidacy for the White House.

President Trump has already nabbed a slew of endorsements from lawmakers in Florida. President Trump has directed his criticism at both DeSantis and President Joe Biden (D), disregarding the other candidates which includes South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R), who served as the Ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump Administration.

Trump and DeSantis are considered the frontrunners for the nomination, and the rivalry has only grown more tense since the 2022 midterm elections.
