As former President Donald Trump (R) has now been officially arrested on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) went on CNN to discuss the unprecedented event just moments before the charges were unsealed.
Moreover, Rep. Donalds addressed former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who stated in a tweet that “No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence.”
“The Grand Jury has acted upon the facts and the law. No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence. Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right,” stated Speaker Pelosi.
Despite the longstanding tradition in not only America’s judicial system but almost all of western civilization judicial systems, defendants are treated as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
While on the news network, Rep. Donalds spoke on the Trump indictment, calling it “some random FEC quasi-issue.”
“In our system of justice, unlike what Nancy Pelosi said, you’re innocent until proven guilty. But putting that aside, you have a prosecutor, who by the way, is not paying attention to the felonies that are being in committed in Manhattan today, yesterday, last week, last month. He (Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg) has decided he wants to focus on some random FEC quasi-issue that even the FEC did not go after, the Department of Justice did not go after, and he’s using some misdemeanor in New York state law?” said Donalds.
He would go on to mention that DA Bragg is out of line in pursuing the monstrous amount of legal action towards the former President.
“In my view, Alvin Bragg is outside his jurisdiction as a prosecutor, number one. And number two, every basic legal analyst, every person who knows the law is that he’s created this theory that’s never existed. So, ask yourself what Republican or Independent or frankly, American would not think that this is bogus, and is political.”
A gag order was not administered to President Trump, but he was instructed by the judge not to come close to the promotion of violence.
