Scott Suggests People 'Wake up' on China

Share

China and the United States are involved in a tense rivalry, which has been exacerbated after reports indicated that COVID-19 likely came from a lab in Wuhan. During an interview on FOX News, Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) commented on the United States' approach to China. In short, Scott suggests that people need to 'wake up' regarding the threat that communist China poses.

In the interview, Senator Scott was asked about the former CDC Director calling for a pause on gain-of-function research in China. To this, Scott argued that nothing should be funded in China because "Communist China is our enemy and NOT A SINGLE taxpayer dollar should be used to benefit the CCP or their research."

Senator Scott reaffirmed that the United States should not be paying for any research to be conducted in China, adding that the U.S. "should be very clear that we shouldn’t be funding anything, anything in communist China."

"Nothing should be funded out of American taxpayer dollars. Nothing should be done for their private sector. We have got to make sure we all understand something. The government of communist China has decided to be our enemy. They have decided that. We didn’t decide that, they decided that," Scott commented.

"We should not buy anything from there. We have to look at them as our mortal enemy now because they want to demolish our way of life whether it’s tik tok hurting our kids, whether it’s fentanyl killing seventy thousand Americans, whether it’s the military… they’re trying to build a military to defeat us, taking away our jobs, stealing anything they can, Chinese spy balloons, let’s all wake up," Scott warned, further clarifying that "on gain of function research, we gotta look at whether we should be doing it in this country, but for sure, we shouldn’t be paying for it to be done in China."
