President Donald Trump (R) has been indicted. While the exact charges have not been released, Republican officials are decrying the indictment as being politically motivated.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who's been on the tail-end of criticism from Trump supporting Republicans, took to social media to denounce the indictment.

"The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head," he said, calling the act "un-American."

"The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct," DeSantis added, saying that Alvin Bragg is now "stretching the law to target a political opponent." In turn, the Florida Governor admitted that the state "will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda."

Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R) also weighed in on the matter, releasing a statement that largely echoed that of Governor DeSantis.

"A Soros funded New York activist prosecutor has taken unprecedented actions to indict a former President and current candidate years after the DOJ and FEC reviewed the merits of the case and took no action," she said, adding that "there is no place for political revenge in our independent judicial system."

She further expressed that Bragg's effort "undermines the Rule of Law and everything our country was founded on. Every single American should be highly concerned. This bell cannot be unrung."

Salazar cited that Joseph Stalin's police chief once said "show me the man and I'll find you the crime," calling on America to "remain better than that."

"We are the beacon for the free world," she wrote.

The Trump family maintains that the indictment is a direct attack on the American people, and Trump continues to engage his supporters on social media to not believe the "Witch-Hunt."

"Even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats - the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this country - have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement."
