Gimenez: US "Must Decouple from Communist China"

Share

As more evidence of Chinese espionage becomes apparent, House Republicans question our economic relationship with the country. In a Select Committee on the Communist Party of China (CCP) hearing, Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) said the US must "decouple from Communist China" entirely.

"The #CCP is the United States' biggest threat. In the past, we have not treated them like the adversary they are. That changes with the @committeeonccp. We MUST decouple from Communist China," Rep. Gimenez tweets.

In the footage, Rep. Gimenez says that as a Marxist regime, China will "lie, cheat, to whatever it is to gain their way or what their goals are."

"They will lie, cheat, do whatever it is to gain their way or what their goals are. And so I believe that the fundamental difference is that unlike the Soviet Union, we're actually funding the instrument of our own demise," Rep. Gimenez adds.

This echoes a similar statement made by Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster that is quoted by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) in an August letter concerning Chinese influence on the Federal Reserve.

Because of this, Rep. Gimenez justifies the imperative that "we must decouple" from China.

"We must decouple, we have to decouple. We can't do it alone, we actually have to do it with our allies."

By this, Rep. Gimenez means because "now that this veil has been withdrawn," the United States' allies are becoming more cognizant of how deep the undermining truly is.

"Now that this veil has been withdrawn, and the rest of the world can actually start to actually see what really China's about and what their aims are, do you feel that our allies have sufficiently woken up to the reality of what China is and the threat that China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea poses to the rest of the world?" Gimenez asks.
