The Biden Administration recently claimed Republicans would cut funding for Customs and Border Protection as the migrant crisis continues. Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) punched back against this claim during a recent appearance on Newsmax.
"President Biden can point fingers and play the blame game all he wants, but the crisis at the southern border is a direct result of his disastrous policy," Rep. Gimenez stated.

Additionally, Rep. Gimenez calls the claim of Republicans not supporting Customs and Border Protection "patently false," referencing his visit to the border earlier in March, where he learned that five of the nine sectors are not under operational control, their supervisors blaming "the policies instituted by the Biden Administration."
"The Biden Administration was criticizing Republicans for our lack of support for Customs and Border Protection. That's patently false. We had a hearing about a week ago, a couple weeks ago, down at the border, where the people, Customs and Border Patrol agents were saying; their chiefs were telling us, that they don't have operational control of five of the nine sectors. And the reason that they don't, is the policies instituted by the Biden Administration," said Gimenez.
Not only have illegal crossings spiked immensely as soon as President Biden took office, but Gimenez suspects the White House "know[s] exactly what they're doing."
"It's no coincidence that the first month in office, we had this spike in illegal immigration coming through the southern border. And it came all due to the policies of President Biden. They know exactly what they're doing, I don't know why they're doing it, they know it's a failure, but they continue doing what they do to see. And what we see is, again, hundreds of thousands, millions of illegal immigrants flowing through the southern border," Gimenez concludes.
In December, Representative Greg Steube also claimed the Biden Administration was "intentionally violating border law."
