Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has been traveling the country as he promotes his new book and touts legislative accomplishments as governor. Over the weekend, Gov. DeSantis visited the states Nevada and Iowa , fueling rumors of a 2024 presidential run while downplaying the move.
Governor DeSantis spoke to a crowd of people at a Davenport Casino over the weekend, pushing back against "woke ideology" and arguing that it has "infected" institutions across the country. "There's certain little enclaves in our country that may be popular," DeSantis shared, adding that "it's not popular with the vast majority of people. And I think it showed. From what we showed in Florida, not only can you have a good agenda and deliver, you can make big inroads with the electorate. And that's exactly what we did. To go from a 32,000 to 1.5 million (v0te) margin, it doesn't happen by accident."
Iowa is an important state regarding the Republican nomination, and it will be hosting the first Republican nominating contest early next year. President Donald Trump (R), who's since ignited a rivalry with DeSantis, is popular in Iowa, so all eyes are on the response DeSantis generates from his stop.
DeSantis also continued to draw a distinction between himself and President Joe Biden (D) on social media, posting a video clip of he State of the State address where he touts the great strides he has made tocombat "Bidenflation."
"We have combatted Bidenflation and the excessive spending habits of Washington by enacting more than $1 billion in tax relief and reducing tolls by 50% for Florida commuters," DeSantis shared on social media.
