Haley Vows to be 'Bold' Against China

Share

This is a big week for the Haley campaign as endorsements begin to pour in after South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) announced she was throwing her hat in the 2024 presidential election.

Haley, who formerly served as U.N. Ambassador for the Trump campaign, appeared to take political swipes at both Biden and Trump. In an interview with FOX News, Haley is now vowing that, under her leadership, the U.S. will be "strong and bold" against China.

Tension between the United States and China have grown since a spy balloon was shot down. In turn, Republicans have criticized Vice President Kamala Harris' (D) response to the balloon, arguing that it's an example of the Biden administration not being strong enough against political threats.

Haley has now commented on the relationship between the U.S. and China, saying that her experience as U.N. Ambassador would help her navigate a way forward.

"You have to stay strong and bold," she warned, adding that "any time you start to push back, they (China) throw a temper tantrum. But what you do is, we have to start telling them what we expect of them. For far too long, Republicans and Democrats thought that if we were nice to China, they would want to be like us. They don't want to be like us."

Haley expressed that China sees the United States "as the great sinners, We have to start taking care of business. No more buying farmland in America, or any land in America. No more money going into our Higher Ed institutions. No more stealing our intellectual property. And it is unthinkable that in this day and time, Americans would look to the sky and see a Chinese spy balloon looking back at them. It's unacceptable."

Haley concluded by saying that the U.S. needs "to take the kick me sign" off of its back.

Haley is the first GOP member to challenge President Donald Trump (R) in the 2024 race, and the President has focused his political jabs at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who's expected to be joining the race as well.
