Haley Expected to Announce Presidential Run

Share

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) has long been rumored to be mulling a presidential run. This week, Haley signaled that she would be making a special announcement on February 15th, 2023 in Charleston, South Carolina, presumably announcing her 2024 presidential bid.

President Donald Trump (R) is the first Republican to announce his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election, but many names have been speculated to be throwing their candidacies into the mix. This includes Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), former Vice President Mike Pence (R), former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (R), and Haley.

All of them have ties to Trump as Vice President Pence was his Vice President, Haley was his ambassador to the United Nations, Pompeo was his former Secretary of State, and Trump endorsed Gov. DeSantis for Governor.

However, the relationship between the two seems to have soured dating back to the November election as Trump quickly began to criticize the Florida Governor. His comments come as a result of the President felt that DeSantis is acting "disloyal" by not directly stating that he will not be running for president in 2024.

Regardless, DeSantis has slightly pushed back against Trump, largely disregarding the president's comments while still issuing non-direct responses.

At first, Haley had stated that she would not be running for president should Trump decide to run, but with Trump already making his announcement, Haley seems to have rescinded her comments in favor of pursuing the Republican nomination.

On social media, Haley stated that she would be making an announcement alongside her family.

"And yes, it's definitely going to be a Great Day in South Carolina!" Haley noted.

President Joe Biden (D) has assured that he intends on running again, and Republicans are set on campaigning against his policies, hoping to secure more national wins in the process.

Haley was active ahead of the November election, endorsing candidates and campaigning with them similar to President Trump.
