Rep. Carlos Gimenez Selected to Serve on House Armed Services Committee

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) has announced that he has been selected to serve on the House Armed Services Committee. According to a Rep. Gimenez press release, he will be the first Congressman from Miami-Dade County to serve on the committee in modern history.

During the 117th Congress, Rep. Gimenez served on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as well as the Science, Space, and Technology Committee. He also served on the notable caucuses such as the Co-Chair of the Disaster of Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Caucus, the Abraham Accords Caucus, the Central America Caucus, the Conservative Climate Caucus, and the Venezuela Democracy Caucus.

“I am honored and humbled to have been selected by my colleagues to serve on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) and fight for our community’s men and women in uniform who serve at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Naval Air Station Key West, and US Southern Command,” said Gimenez.

He would go on to state that he looks forward to getting work with House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rodgers (R-AL) and that he is “forever grateful for this truly exceptional nation.”

“The United States of America is the greatest country in the history of the world, and as a first generation American, I’ll always be forever grateful to this truly exceptional nation. I look forward to working with Chairman Rogers and my HASC colleagues to strengthen America and guarantee our security well into the 21st century,” stated Gimenez.

In the 117th Congress, Florida legislators that served on the committee included Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), Rep. Scott Franklin (R-FL), and Rep. Stephanie Murhpy (D-FL).
