Lee Calls for Full Government Transparency and Accountability

Florida Rep. Laurel Lee (R) has joined the chorus of Republican lawmakers who are calling for full transparency from President Joe Biden over the two batches of classified documents that were found at his old office near the University of Pennsylvania.

The Floridian was able to catch up with Rep. Lee  on Capitol Hill where she expressed her concerns over the newly-found classified documents.

"I think it is important that we get all the facts and information about what those documents are; what they contain, and how they should have been lawfully handled," said Rep. Lee.

Additionally, she describes how "Americans need to have confidence in our institutions of justice, and that they treat all persons fairly and equally under the law."

Lee and her fellow House Republican lawmakers are calling for stronger oversight of the federal government, arguing that much-needed oversight and transparency is needed to ensure federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI do their primary job.

"Republicans are committed to ensuring that our government is transparent and that it's accountable," added Lee.

Lee, a former judge, and prosecutor believes that "it is important that political agendas not be reflected in the priorities of federal law enforcement agencies," and expresses optimism towards the new House Select Committee in steering these agencies back towards keeping Americans safe rather than pursuing partisan agendas.

"I believe that the work of the Select Committee in the House will ensure that the resources and the brave men and women of our federal law enforcement agencies are doing the important work they need to do to keep violent criminals off our streets and keep our communities safe, while not infringing upon the liberties and freedoms of the American people," concluded Lee.
