FL Legislators Highlight National Law Enforcement Day

With January 9^th being national Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, some Florida legislators such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), and others have showcased different types of press releases concerning the holiday.

Sen. Rubio’s official press shop put out a tweet with a graphic and gave a statement about those who stand along the “Thin Blue Line.”

“Senator Rubio is proud to #BacktheBlue. These brave first responders protect our communities and ensure our safety on a daily basis. We're grateful for their service in Florida and across the nation,” tweeted the account.

Similarly, Sen. Scott sent out a tweet including multiple pictures of himself with law enforcement officers.

“Don’t forget to thank a law enforcement officer today for all that they do to keep us safe! #LawEnforcementAppreciationDay” tweeted Scott.

He also released a video of himself thanking the institution of law enforcement as a whole.

“I want to thank the brave law enforcement officers across Florida and around the nation for all they do to keep our community safe. These men and women risked their lives every day expecting nothing in return,” Scott states at one point in the video.

Rep. Mast, an Army veteran, sent out an entire blog post about the holiday. In it, he writes, “Every day, law enforcement officers across the entire United States put on their uniforms, and in doing so, put their own comfort and safety on the line to protect our communities. Their selfless service is an inspiration. And yet, year after year, far-left activists have pushed to demoralize and even defund the police. These radical ideologies show no respect for the work those in law enforcement do, and in my opinion, have no place in the halls of Congress.”

Finally, Mast talks about a bill he’s cosponsored, the “Protect and Serve Act,” which he looks to pass with the new Republican majority in the House of Representatives.

“To all those who serve, thank you for what you do. Thank you for keeping our neighborhoods safe, and thank you for investing in our community. It is an honor to represent you in Congress,” writes Mast.

Rubio, Scott, and Mast all released their statements in different ways, but their message to law enforcement is the same: Thank you.
