On Wednesday, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) was selected to serve on the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services. The Chairman of the Committee is Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC). Rep. Donalds appointment comes just days after receiving 20 votes for Speaker of the House in multiple rounds of voting. However, the job eventually was given to the current Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

In the 117th Congress, Rep. Donalds served on the House Budget Committee, the House Oversight Committee, and the House Small Business Committee.

“I am proud to welcome Congressman Byron Donalds to the Committee,” McHenry stated. “His experience in the banking, finance, and insurance industries will make him a valuable addition to our team. I have no doubt he will continue to serve Southwest Florida well in this new capacity.”

Donalds himself stated that he’s excited to get to work on behalf of the American people and that he will work across the aisle to “champion common-sense policies.”

“As a career financial services professional with more than two decades in this industry, I am honored to have the privilege of serving on the House Financial Services Committee this Congress. As a member of this committee, I will work tirelessly with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to champion common-sense policies that enhance and empower America's monetary policy, our economy, international finance, insurance, and housing, and bring critical accountability of the agencies that fall under the committee's jurisdiction,” stated Donalds.

Notable names on the committee include Florida’s Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL) as well as fellow Freedom Caucus Republican, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN).

“I want to thank my colleagues on the House GOP Steering Committee for entrusting me with this great responsibility. I look forward to delivering results for the people of Florida's 19th Congressional District and the entire country. Let's get to work,” stated Donalds.

Now that a Speaker has been elected, America’s legislators can get to work.
