Breaking news popped up on people’s cellphones and hit the airwaves on Monday evening with the bombshell from The New York Times which stated that President Biden’s (D) lawyers found classified evidence at one of his former offices in Washington dating back to when he was Vice President.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) went on CNN just minutes after the news broke to discuss the news of the newly-found classified files.

Donalds and CNN Host Wolf Blitzer disagreed with whether Biden should be held accountable for the offense to the extent to which former President Donald Trump (R) has criticized the documents that were found at Mar-a-Lago during a grandiose raid by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“Listen, it’s been pretty clear that Presidents do have some classified documents. But the difference between a President and everybody else is the President has the ability to declassify information. The Vice President has no ability to declassify information. So number one, what was he doing with classified information in his possession? Number two, why did it take six years (to surface)?...And point number three, and this one is the one that’s most important: Everybody can go back to the Hillary Clinton email saga. We know other Presidents have had classified information, but why was there a raid on Mar-a-Lago?” Donalds stated in his initial response.

Donalds then went on to mention that it appears that people in the media are giving President Biden the benefit of the doubt.

Blitzter then asked if what Trump did in the past was illegal.

His response was, “No that’s not what I’m saying at all. Because the President and his team have gone back and forth with the National Archives saying he has an ability to declassify. That is something that’s going to take care of itself.”

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) had a similar take upon the issue as well.

“How long have the classified documents found in Biden's office been sitting around? Have they been there since his vice presidency? Who had access to them all of this time? Where is the FBI raid?” said Waltz in an interview on Fox News.

The decision is in the Department of Justice’s hands now.
