Texas Congresswoman Puts American Flag in Garbage bin

Washington D.C. – In a shocking display of improper flag etiquette, while moving offices, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) put her American flag and her Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) flag in a trash bin.

In a tweet, Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) has called her out for what some would call a disrespectful display of actions.

“Today’s rescue mission: saving Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s American flag from the garbage can. @JacksonLeeTX18, anytime you’d like a lesson on flag etiquette, let me know. It’s one of the first things we’re taught in basic training,” tweeted Rep. Mast.

Within the video, he calls his discovery a “WTF moment,” and asks, “What the hell is wrong with these people?”

Mast served in the U.S. Army for 12 years and is a recipient of The Purple Heart Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, The Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and The Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Granted, it appears in the photo also provided that the bin is being used to transport her flags to a different office. However, simultaneously there is a label that also says “trash” on it (click on the link above in order to see the picture).

And while this could be the doing of a clueless intern (patriotic Americans can only hope that is the case), to leave the flags unattended in a hallway in the U.S. House of Representatives is just not a good look, especially if it is in a trash can.
