Supreme Court Blocks Biden From Terminating Title 42

In a shocking turn of events, the U.S. Supreme Court has blocked President Joe Biden (D) from ending the controversial Title 42. The policy, issued by President Donald Trump (R), was instituted by the 45th president to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the policy, migrants were deported either back to their country or to Mexico.

Responding to the announcement, President Biden told reporters that "the court is not going to decide until June apparently and in the meantime we have to enforce it, but I think it's overdue."

Republicans and Democrats have withstood a battle over the continued use of the policy, but the 5-4 vote assured that the policy would not be terminated despite the opinion of a lower court to get rid of Title 42.

Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, who was nominated by President Trump, dissented in his vote. In his vote, he noted that he was not discounting the concerns of states regarding the border but that “the current border crisis is not a Covid crisis.” “Courts should not be in the business of perpetuating administrative edicts designed for one emergency only because elected officials have failed to address a different emergency,” Gorsuch added.

This week, as reports indicated that the Biden administration was preparing to terminate Title 42, President Trump released a statement, criticizing Biden and praising the policy.

“Over the past two years, Joe Biden has invited millions of illegal aliens to infiltrate our country in a gigantic unlawful invasion,” Trump said, adding that “by abolishing what remains of Title 42, Biden is willfully and deliberately triggering a cataclysm of illegal immigration like the world has never seen before.”

Numerous Republicans have joined Trump in praising Title 42. Just last week Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) chided Biden, saying that "from the first day of office, he revoked many of the Trump administration policies that actually have been working to curtail the number of migrants crossing the border."
