Scott Writes BLS Commissioner Concerning Astonishingly Inaccurate Jobs Report

Congressional Republicans have voiced their displeasure with President Joe Biden (D) and his administration’s inability to quell inflation. However, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) is questioning some of the statistics considering employment and whether the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is accurately reporting them.

Sen. Scott is referring to the report made by the Philadelphia Federal Reserve which states that the BLS’s projections are more than 1 million jobs off. 1,111,000 to be exact.

According to the Philadelphia Fed, 10,500 new jobs were created between the months of March and June of this year, and not the BLS number which came out to 1,121,500 jobs.

“For the better part of his presidency, while the American economy has struggled and record inflation has brought historic pain to families and small businesses across the country, President Joe Biden has consistently bragged about job growth. While ignoring the fact that the vast and overwhelming majority of jobs he now takes credit for are not new, but simply have returned following mandatory shutdowns in Democrat-controlled states and cities, President Biden has used data and reports from your agency, the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS), to support advancing his radical, agenda and big government policies,” writes Sen. Scott in a letter to the commissioner of the BLS, Dr. William Beach.

He continued, appreciating the Philadelphia Fed for their report, stating, “Now, thanks to the good work of analysts at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, we know that the BLS inaccurately reported the creation more than one million jobs, and that much of what President Biden has claimed credit for as the economic achievements for his administration is a lie,” Scott wrote.

Near the end of the letter, Scott asks a multitude of questions of the BLS and Beach, including as to why the BLS report was so poorly formulated, and to whether the process of collecting data has changed since the start of the Biden administration.
