What is more important than upholding our laws?

Despite Republicans' demands for the Biden administration to secure the U.S. southern border, President Biden (D) says there are "more important things going on." In response, Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL-18) releases a short video on Twitter skewering the President's dismissive remark.

"Biden says there’s “more important things” than the crisis at the southern border. His head must be buried in the sand up at Rehoboth Beach," Mast tweets.

The brief video shows Rep. Mast at his desk, watching the footage of Biden on a tablet.

"The President says there's more important things going on than visiting the border," he asks sardonically. Continuing, Mast counters with questions of his own.

"Well, what's more, important than stopping human trafficking? What's more important than stopping thousands of pounds of fentanyl from coming across our border? What's more important than not creating a situation where our Border Patrol agents are in increasingly high danger?"

Mast is likely referring not just to potentially dangerous crossers, but also to the recent spike in suicides among patrol agents.

Mast then asks a final question: "What is more important than upholding our laws?"

He compares this lack of concern displayed by the Biden administration with "going to Iowa and saying there are more important things than corn."

Concluding, Mast says that with the new House GOP majority in January 2023, "the southern border will be on his agenda. So he should look out for it."

This is not the first time Mast is calling out the Biden administration's handling of the southern border.

In a November interview with The Floridian, Mast postulates that "the priority of their administration was not to secure the southern border. It was, "open the border."

" To this end, he voices favor in impeaching Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, accusing him of "flat-out lying to Congress, and lying to the American people about what's going on at the border right up to the point of yesterday," stated Mast.
