Republicans continue criticizing the Biden administration's border policy and its lack of priority in the omnibus spending bill. Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL-17) accuses Biden and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas of "willfully and intentionally violating federal law" in a recent appearance on Fox Business.
"If the Biden Administration just followed federal law, we wouldn’t have 5 million illegal immigrants in our country since Joe Biden took office," Steube tweets.

Host Neil Cavuto begins by saying that 79% of Americans want Title 42 to remain in place, which leads to an idea of reimplementing the Trump administration's Remain in Mexico policy. Steube agrees with this, saying that "let's return to that policy," adding that "let's also enforce current law."
Steube describes how these illegal border crossers, once their asylum cases are adjudicated, are not properly deported back to their home country, contrary to existing laws. "Have the Remain in Mexico policy back in place and follow current law, and we wouldn't have five million illegal immigrants that have come into our country since Joe Biden has took office."
It is here that Steube levels his accusation, telling Cavuto to make "no mistake about it. This administration is willfully and intentionally violating federal law that Congress passed decades ago so that they can let all of these illegals into our country."
Cavuto replies that even with Title 42 in place, illegal border crossings are still at record highs. Steube agrees, saying the number is higher than the population of the counties of his Congressional district, and that is not including the possible number of got-aways.
Moreover, the consequences of such an open border are being felt nationwide, especially the smuggling of fentanyl. "It's killing Americans, literally," says Steube. He says enough fentanyl to kill the entirety of the US six times over has been apprehended since Biden took office. "It is absolutely a crisis of epic proportions. It is a humanitarian crisis to Americans dying every day from fentanyl overdoses, and this administration is doing nothing to stop the invasion that is happening at our southern border."
Steube says this is the precise reason that "the American people put the House majority in Republican hands come January. We're looking forward to making this the number one priority for the American people, because the American people support law and order, they do not support the chaos that is happening at our southern border."
Despite this, other Republicans voted in favor of the omnibus bill, which does provide funds to border security.
To other countries.
