Donalds Introduces 'The ESG Rule Prevention Act' To Congress

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL)  has introduced legislation in an attempt to “halt the Biden administration's attempts to implement radical Environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) regulations in our federal agencies.”

The bill looks to block the federal government from forcing individuals or organizations to declare their greenhouse gas emissions as part of a conditional eligibility requirement, as well as stops agencies from requiring a reduced emission standard (or “target”) from impending federal contractors.

“It's no secret that superfluous decrees and regulations bog down our nation, and the addition of ESG rules by Democrats dramatically expands the reach of unelected federal agencies and diverts the attention of our agencies towards woke activism,” stated Rep. Donalds.

ESG rules have been a point of contention in recent civic discourse as nations such as Sri Lanka have witnessed political uprisings and demonstrations as inflationary numbers shot through the roof. In July, now-former President Gotabaya Rajapaska of Sir Lanka control of the government due to his decision to stray away from synthetic fertilizers in order maintain a higher ESG score.

According to Michael Shellenberger, an ecomodernist author, after the synthetic fertilizers were banned, the country saw an 85% decrease in crop production and an increase in annual inflation rate of more than 50% in just 6 months.

This is what Rep. Donalds is looking to stay away from.

“The federal procurement marketplace must operate without the heavy hand of egregious policies that raise regulatory costs, hinder competition, and ultimately impact the American taxpayer. Heading into the 118^th Congress, I look forward to championing legislation to eradicate EGS rules in corporate America and throughout the federal government,” Donalds concluded.

Donalds will look to get the bill to the President’s desk when the next Congress starts on January 3^rd.
