Gov. Ron DeSantis
Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist (D) has played the last trick up his sleeve against Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). With one week left, President Biden himself has come to Florida, stumping for Crist at a recent campaign event in Miami Gardens. Biden calls DeSantis "Trump incarnate" (how does that work?) and praises Crist as being "a great governor before and will make an even greater governor again because of who he is going to be replacing.”
Finally, Biden also asks God to "give some of our Republican friends some enlightenment." DeSantis, however, remains undeterred. In fact, in an appearance on Fox News' Hannity, DeSantis sarcastically thanks Biden for visiting Florida, saying it helps him more than it does Crist.
Twitter account DeSantis War Room tweeted the clip, captioning it as "@RonDeSantisFL [burn] response to Biden campaigning for @charliecrist in Florida today: “I think it's an in-kind contribution to my campaign. I just want to make the offer public: we will underwrite him to stay in Florida for the rest of the campaign.”
Hannity jokingly says that DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) must be "upset" to know of Biden's campaigning for Crist. A smiling DeSantis says that "I think it's an in-kind contribution to my campaign."
DeSantis goes so far as to say Biden is welcome to continue his messaging. "I just want to make the offer publicly: we will underwrite him to stay in Florida for the rest of the campaign. If Joe wants to stay, it'll be on our dime and we've love for the people of Florida to be reminded that the Democrats in this state are with Biden 100% of the time."
After all, Crist has said before that Biden was being "honest" in calling Republicans "semi-fascist" and described himself as "so damn proud" of Biden's infamous "MAGA Republicans" speech in September.
