AmeriHealth Caritas Florida Still Helping Victims of Hurricane Ian

AmeriHealth Caritas Florida has once agains stepped up for Florida and is currently providing aid to the still ongoing recovery efforts from Hurricane Ian.  AmeriHealth Caritas Florida, which serves seven Florida counties in southeast Florida, is working closely with community partners to support areas of need for Floridians as they recover, including recent aid to Feeding Florida.

AmeriHealth Caritas Florida operates as a Medicaid managed care plan through Florida’s Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program, serving enrollees living in Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. AmeriHealth Caritas Florida’s strength lies in its ability to foster collaboration among network providers to facilitate optimal health outcomes for members.

AmeriHealth Caritas Florida reportedly donated $10,000 to Feeding Florida’s current hurricane relief efforts of delivering food boxes and other needed items by Floridians across the impacted regions of the state.  Feeding Florida is a statewide version of Feeding America that has 5 of their 12 food banks directly serving areas affected by Hurricane Ian.

“Helping families get enough to eat has always been an integral part of AmeriHealth Caritas Florida’s commitment,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Florida Market President Kathy Warner. “As efforts to recover and rebuild are ongoing, we are here to support our community partners in reaching families and fulfilling their needs during this crucial time.”

The program is not only distributing food but other items that would be needed by Florida families.  In Okeechobee County AmeriHealth Caritas Florida secured more than 100 tarps for local homes impacted by the hurricane for the county to distribute.  There have also been plenty of items for babies to go around, as $5,000 in diapers, wipes, bottles, and formula were donated to the organization for families in need.
