Senator Marco Rubio has announced that one of his and Gov. Ron DeSantis's supporters was attacked by "4 animals" in Hialeah while canvassing by "4 animals" who stated that Republicans were not allowed to campaign in their neighborhood.
"He suffered internal bleeding, a broken jaw & will need facial reconstructive surgery," tweeted Sen. Rubio.
According to Hialeah Mayor Esteban Bovo, one person has been arrested in connection to the assault.
Freedom of speech is the bedrock of our democracy, and cowardly acts such as this should be condemned by all regardless of individual political affiliation. The investigation will continue until all of those responsible are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. pic.twitter.com/MjXOadj6Ph

The Floridian has reached out to the Hialeah Police Department but has not heard back. Senator Rubio has not been able to be reached for comment as well.
Earlier this year, an indivdual in Seminole County assaulted a campaign worker of Republican congressional nominee Cory Mills. The assailant was on burglary and assault charges.
This is a developing story.
