Both Republicans and Democrats are denying the outcome of the past two presidential elections.
Florida Republicans like Rep. Matt Gaetz and other state and federal officials contend that the 202o presidential election was stolen away from former President Donald Trump.
"I believe that Donald Trump won the 2020 election," said Rep. Gaetz to news station WEAR-TV.
Rep. Gaetz added, "I think that our election was uniquely polluted by these indiscriminate mail-in ballots,” before continuing, "I think this was the first time in America's history where the mailbox beat the ballot box."
After two years, “Stop the Steal” continues to be a rallying cry for Republicans across the country.
Denying the 2022 presidential election by any Republican official is considered big news, so media outlets and reporters are always looking to get top Republican officials like Gov. Ron DeSantis on record of saying the election was stolen from President Trump.
Florida media outlets are actively looking to get Gov. DeSantis on record on whether or not he believes the 2022 election was stolen.
But while the same “Legacy media,” as DeSantis refers to them are writing these grandiose stories about how Republicans continue to beat the drums of discontent over the results of the Biden-Trump contest, rarely do they talk about how hypocritical Democrats are when they chastise Republicans for denying an election when they continue to deny the results of the 2016 election.
Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Florida State Rep. Anna Eskamani believe that the 2016 presidential election was stolen.
Progressive Rep. Eskamani, who received the support of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her potential 2022 congressional campaign, recently tweeted that during the 2022 midterm election, about half of “Americans Will Have an Election Denier on Their Ballot.”
The Twitter handle @Nikkifraud found the tweet in question.
“More Than 1 in 2 Americans Will Have an Election Denier on Their Ballot. This isn’t funny—It’s dangerous,” tweeted Rep. Eskamani
But while Eskamani was quick to accuse Republicans of denying the 2020 elections, in 2018, Eskamani stated that she believed the 2016 elections were “rigged.”
“Rigged Witch Hunt”…the only thing rigged in this was the 2016 presidential election,” stated Eskamani.
In response to The Floridian’s request for comment about how both Republicans and Democrats are denying the aforementioned presidential elections,” Eskamani appears to make a 180-degree pivot from her previous position.
“President Trump won the Electoral College, he was the legitimate President for his term, just like how President Biden is the legitimate president right now,” stated Eskamani. “Continuing to say that this is not true, especially after the January 6th insurrection, is really dangerous and weakens the strength of our Democracy and trust in one another as Americans.”
Trump "knows he’s an illegitimate president," Clinton said. "I believe he understands that the many varying tactics they used, from voter suppression and voter purging to hacking to the false stories — he knows that — there were just a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out like it did … I know he knows this wasn’t on the level."
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I), who was the victim of Democratic Party primary election rigging, also came out to question the validity of former President Trump’s election.
"I think he’s going to be inaugurated this week," Sanders said. "I have great concerns, apparently Republicans do as well, and there’s going to be an investigation about the role that Russian hacking played in getting (Trump) elected,” stated Sen. Sanders.
While it is obvious that there are Democrats who believe that President Trump was not a legitimate president, Republicans are a much broader, louder voice when it comes to questioning the 2020 elections.
Republicans are expected to make great gains both at the state and federal level by running on Election Integrity, as well as on issues like crime, border security, and the current state of the national economy.
