Rubio Defends DeSantis, Outlines Media Hypocrisy After Martha's Vineyard Illegal Immigrants sue

Democratic senatorial nominee and Rep. Val Demings is accusing Senator Marco Rubio of pulling a “shameless and cynical stunt” for posting a video outlining the fact that illegal immigrants from Venezuela are now suing because they were flown to Martha’s Vineyard after breaking U.S. immigration law.

“This is a shameless and cynical stunt from Marco Rubio. We are sick and tired of the political games he plays with Florida’s immigrant community. He keeps proving why he doesn’t represent us in the U.S. Senate,” state Rep. Demings.

Sen. Rubio, who is supported by the majority of Hispanics in Florida, including a large swath of the Cuban exile community, and the Colombian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuela communities, noted in the video that he found it “incredible” these illegal immigrants were suing a week after arriving illegally, and that “no other country in the world would allow that.”

“In what country in the world are you allow to enter illegally into a country,  violating its laws, and within a week, be in court suing the very government whose laws you just violated,” asked Sen. Rubio.

Rubio then targeted legacy media outlets and Democratic politicians, calling out  their  apparent “hypocrisy” over the illegal immigration problem, and took a jab at Rep. Demings and other “radical Leftists.”

“And the other hypocrisy here is, all of these people in the media, in politics going around saying that we have an obligation to assume this responsibility of caring for millions of people who are coming, have come, or want to come,” added Rubio. “Who's supposed to pay for all this? Because they don't want to pay for it. They don't want it. What they're basically saying is, we should allow anyone who comes here illegally to comment and to stay and we should assume that responsibility, but only if they stay in Florida, but only if they stay in Texas, not if they come to New York not if they come to Massachusetts, not if they come to Washington they're hypocrites and the radical leftists who want to destroy this country. that's what this is.”

Rubio’s remarks come after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently flew 48 illegal immigrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard. The DeSantis administration has said that it obtained voluntary consent forms from all of those who boarded the planes to Massachusetts.

Rubio has painted Demings as a “radical rubberstamp” for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, citing her 100% voting record with the Speaker and her 94% voting with members of the  Progressive “Squad” in the House of Representatives.

In turn, Demings has called Rubio a “radical” for his pro-Life position.

Democrats have bet the House in 2022 on the abortion issue. Demings has been all but solely campaigning on the issue, but her position in support of late-term abortions and “infanticide” could prove problematic for her.

Since 2019, a vote in favor of a “born alive” legislation has come down 27 times. Demings has stood against the "born alive" bill every single time.

This bill would enforce medical care and treatment for babies who survive abortions and penalize doctors who allow or intentionally kill a baby who survives an abortion (infanticide).
