2022 Midterms

Nunez Calls Newsom's California "Dumpster Fire State"

Back in July, The Floridian detailed attempts by California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) to attack Florida's own Governor Ron DeSantis (R). Gov. Newsom said "freedom is under attack" in Florida, to which DeSantis shot back, saying that California's population is "hemorrhaging" because of Newsom's own policies, while Florida is a "citadel of freedom" that Californians are moving to.

Friday night, Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez spoke on Fox Business' Varney & Co. about these new residents and how it will affect the 2022 midterms.

Host Stuart Varney says that Newsom has called DeSantis "a bully" and praises Charlie Crist, DeSantis' rival for Governor.

"How has that been taken by the good people of Florida?" he asked. Nunez says that "the good people of Florida, some of which are prior California residents, have come to Florida because they appreciate Governor DeSantis, his leadership."

Additionally, Nunez says that "we've seen so many Californians leave the draconian lockdown state, and so, again, I think what we'll see in November is a very loud message sent to the DNC, and the local Democratic Parties, that Florida voters are fed up with their radical agenda, and they're going to assure that Ron DeSantis and I are reelected."

Varney asks if Nunez is concerned these Californian voters will potentially turn the state purple in November. A confident Nunez says no.

"As a matter of fact, what we've seen in Florida, is that Florida Republicans now have a net advantage over Democrat voters to the tune of 250,000 registered voters. That is the first time in the history of the state. That didn't happen by accident, that happened because of our leadership and our Freedom First policies," Nunez added.

Amusingly enough, Gavin Newsom's own in-laws seem to agree with Nunez, for not only did they donate to a DeSantis PAC, but actually moved to Florida in 2020.

Saturday morning, Nunez tweeted the clip, calling California "Newsom's dumpster fire state."

"Californians have fled Newsom's dumpster fire state and flocked to the Free State of Florida because of Governor @RonDeSantisFL’s Freedom First policies."
