MSNBC Wrongfully Claims Crist was Governor During Hurricane Matthew in 2016

Share

While being interviewed on MSNBC (considered by most a left-leaning network), news host Hallie Jackson spoke to gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist (D-FL) to talk about Hurricane Ian. At the beginning of the interview, Jackson mentions to the audience that Crist was Governor of Florida during Hurricane Matthew in 2016 (he was Governor from 2007-2011).  Interestingly enough, Crist doesn't make an attempt to correct her, essentially taking credit for the clean-up efforts from the aftermath of that storm.

He then proceeds to blame climate change for the size and severity of the hurricane, despite the formation of many east coast hurricanes from the west coast of Africa (Hurricane Ian originated just north of Venezuela).

"The massive size of this storm Ian is incredible... The one factor in this is Climate Change. These storms are getting bigger, they are getting stronger, and they are affected many more lives as a result of it. It is remarkable what we are witnessing. And as we get through this, hopefully, we have an opportunity to make sure that we do things that we can address going forward to try to reduce the size of these massive storms that Florida has suffered from so brutally," said Crist.
