DeSantis fed and Housed Homeless Illegal Immigrants Before Flying Them to Martha's Vineyard

New details surrounding Gov. DeSantis' moving of 50 illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard continue to emerge. Democrats nationwide furiously allege DeSantis engaged in "human trafficking" and "kidnapping" of these migrants, and, as we reported earlier, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) sought to press charges against the Florida Governor. The DeSantis administration denies these accusations and has provided some context to the decision that refutes Democratic talking points.

Officials say that at least 40%, or 160,000 of those illegally crossing the border intend to go to Florida. This number is not counting those whom the Federal government has not processed or provided an end destination.

Additionally, moving migrants to "sanctuary destinations and high-wealth areas that support Biden’s open border policies, welcome immigrants, and have significant resources to care for these individuals," is completely voluntary. Essentially, those fifty immigrants relocated to Martha's Vineyard chose to go there on their own free will, and could freely choose to leave the enclave if they wanted to.

Moreover, most of the migrants are already in dire straits. Many are homeless and were found wandering near the border. Prior to their relocation, Florida gave the migrants food, shelter, and a shower, letting them know they had the option of going to Martha's Vineyard or other sanctuary cities.

"These were homeless people that were in a rough situation and undoubtedly had their circumstance improved," said the DeSantis officials. "In fact, several have already communicated their thanks for the opportunity to go to the sanctuary state."

"During the flights, individuals were given bags with snacks, with water and other provisions and information taken from the Massachusetts website that talks about benefits that are available in a sanctuary state," the officials said

Finally, as angry as Democrats are that the migrants were sent to Martha's Vineyard, many of the migrants themselves were appreciative of DeSantis sending them there. "Instead of hurting us, they did us a favor, so I'm not complaining," one of the group is reported saying.

So now that we know the relocating of illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard was far removed from the cattle cars to Auschwitz Democrats have framed the relocation as, what comes next? Governor DeSantis vows that more migrants will be sent. The background call says it best:

"Florida is not a sanctuary state. We will continue to facilitate a program to assist the transportation of illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities and states across the country."
