It’s all hands on deck in Florida as recovery efforts from Hurricane Ian continue, and as Charlie Crist recently said, there is “not time, obviously for any kind of politics,” or is there?
During an interview with MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson, Crist spoke about the current herculean effort by Gov. Ron DeSantis, his administration, and with help from the Biden administration to help Floridians recover from the storm that barrelled through earlier this week.
“It's gonna take all of us working together. It's no time obviously for any kind of politics. It is a time for humanity, it is a time for decency, it is a time for caring,” said Crist.
But no sooner than he said those words, his gubernatorial campaign was sending out politically-charged fundraising emails.
The Floridian was the first and only Florida-based media outlet to report that Crist sent out a fundraising email just hours before Hurricane Ian made landfall.
And while Florida Search & Rescue crews were out looking for Floridians victimized by the storm, Crist’s campaign crew was sending out more campaign emails.
We thought, “It's no time obviously for any kind of politics?”
During the same interview, Crist did not correct Jackson after she mistakenly stated that he was governor during Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Crist was governor of Florida from 2007-2011.
A day after Hurricane Ian hit, Gov. Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis were on the ground and in the air accessing the catastrophic damage.
