Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) flipped District 26 for Republicans in the 2020 election, and now he's set to face Democrat Robert Asencio in the November election.

After serving as Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Rep. Gimenez set his sight on Congress, winning his highly contentious race against then-Florida Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D). Though Gimenez has faced criticism from Republicans over his support of Secretary Hillary Clinton (D) in the 2016 election, Gimenez supported President Donald Trump (R) in the 2020 election and received a congressional endorsement from Trump.

Aside from facing rivals in Democrats Paredes and Asencio, Gimenez faced an opponent in Jeremiah Schaffer, who had no party affiliation and who was a write-in candidate.

Asencio previously served in district 118 of the Florida House, having assumed office on November 8th, 2016 and leaving office on November 6th, 2018. While there, Asencio served on the Education & Employment committee.

On the other hand, Paredes' professional experience includes serving as an SEO expert for Wix.com Inc.

Gimenez is expected to easily win the general election.
